On Monday 1st November 2004, Celtel Uganda simultaneously with its sister company Celtel Kenya unveiled its new brand identity at a function officiated by H.E the president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and attended by a number of dignitaries that included the Chairman and Co-founder of Celtel Dr Mohammed Ibrahim. The events of this day made Celtel the only Mobile telephone operator operating in all three East African countries.
As part of the re-launch activities, Celtel flew in Youssou N’Dour who in concert enthralled his Kampala audience with his vast and distinctively rich African sounds. True to the company’s brand promise of Making Life Better, Celtel also organized a bash for its customers that featured winners of the PAM awards 2004.
